Myopia Control Clinic

For over a century parents have asked opticians if anything can be done to slow the progression of myopia (short-sightedness) in their children. Most practitioners shrug their shoulders, increase the child’s prescription, issue new spectacles and see him or her in a year. The tide has now turned. A number of treatments have been shown to cut progression rates in half. These treatments include the following:

  • Orthokeratology – a contact lens that moulds the shape of the cornea
  • Multifocal contact lenses
  • Progressive spectacles
  • Bifocal spectacles

If you or your child is myopic it is worth considering myopia control. Please feel free to call the practice on 0141 943 3300 for more details or book appointment online.
