New Zeiss Cirrus 5000 OCT

New OCT, visual fields and software….

When we opened our doors some 6 years ago we were the first practice in Europe to install the fully integrated photographic and OCT scanning system Forum from Carl Zeiss.  In the last few years in conjunction with Zeiss we have established the practice as a centre for excellence in the use of this technology, which culminated in us winning The Technology Practice of the Year award last year for the most technologically advanced practice in the UK.

Of course technology moves on and to that end we are delighted to announce that we have just installed the very latest cutting-edge diagnostic equipment and software from Zeiss.  We are the first independent practice in the UK to use this latest technological advancement.  The only other eye care establishment which has this version is currently Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.

Our brand new top-of-the-range Zeiss Cirrus 5000 HD 3D OCT, new Zeiss Humphrey Visual Field Analyser 3 and upgrades to our Visucam 200 retinal camera in conjunction with the latest version of Forum offers us many advantages in diagnosing conditions such as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and many others as early is as possible.

Advantages of the new Zeiss Cirrus 5000 OCT

Our new Zeiss Cirrus 5000 HD-OCT allows for faster, clearer and more detailed images of the front and back of the eye.  The introduction of new anterior eye (front of the eye) imaging can be used in the assessment of dry eye, corneal conditions such as keratoconus, Fuch’s corneal dystrophy and recurrent corneal erosions syndrome as well as specialist contact lens fitting such as scleral contact lenses and orthokeratology.   Imaging of the anterior chamber and irido-corneal angle is useful in the diagnosis of angle-closure glaucoma and many other conditions.

The higher resolution offered by the new OCT combined with its speed and integration into Zeiss Forum, Forum Glaucoma Workplace and Forum Retinal Workplace platforms means our understanding, diagnosis, monitoring and management of conditions such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachment is hugely improved.

Advantages of the new Zeiss Humphrey Visual Field Analyser 3

Our new state-of-the-art visual field analyser allows us to diagnosis and monitor glaucoma and a variety of neurological disorders with more accuracy than before.

Advantages of the new Zeiss Retinal Workplace:

Zeiss Forum Retinal Workplace is invaluable in our work with patients suffering from age-related macular degeneration, particularly when patients are undergoing anti-VEGF treatment (injections for the treatment of wet AMD).
