Emergency Eye Care for Eye Care for Life Members
EMERGENCY EYE CARE MEASURES FOR PETER IVINS EYE CARE COVID 19 FOR EYE CARE FOR LIFE MEMBERS
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU AS A PATIENT and WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT ?
We will be offering emergency eye care to all Eye Care for Life members. In order to protect the public and practitioners the Scottish Government and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board have with immediate effect asked all optical practices to suspend routine eye care appointments and limit practice activity to the delivery of emergency and essential eye care only.
This means that until further notice our practice activity will operate on reduced hours and will be limited to Emergency appointments and essential eye care only.
This will include but not be limited to:
- Patients with acute symptoms requiring urgent attention.
- Sudden loss or change in vision.
- Health and other essential workers or personnel requiring attention
- Follow up of acute appointments or patients we feel need to be reviewed
- Any contact lens related red eye or provision of contact lens supplies
- Any other condition the optometrist deems necessary needs to be seen
We will be expected to triage patients in advance to ensure that they do not have any symptoms of COVID-19, in which case you will be given instructions on what to do next.
Routine appointments will be postponed with immediate effect, but will be provided for at a later post pandemic stage without being detrimental to your vision.
OTHER NECESSARY SUPPLIES
Routine provision of contact lenses, eye drops and repair of broken or replacement glasses may still be available on a limited basis. Payments will be made via phone with products either posted or collected via door drop-off.
The practice will operate a locked door policy meaning you must telephone to book a call with either Craig or myself before attending the practice.
HOW WILL THIS WORK FOR OUR EYE CARE FOR LIFE PATIENTS?
We are fortunate in that due to our practice technology we are able to access your history, clinical records and images remotely. In addition to our emergency services we will:
- Continue to offer a 7 day direct helpline to Peter and/or Craig for any eye care concerns or questions you may have during this period
- Offer virtual consultations using either telephone, FaceTime or Skype if you have access
- If required to be seen and you have been triaged you will be allocated a priority emergency appointment
ATTENDING FOR AN EMERGENCY EYE CARE APPOINTMENT
You should attend the practice alone (or with a carer) and we will be operating a social distancing appointment system to minimise the number of people in the practice at any one time to one person. Staff will be wearing personal protective equipment, so do not be alarmed by this sight. Please note, if we feel it is in your best interests to be seen elsewhere we will direct you to that facility.
These are very strange times but please be assured we are doing our best to look after your eye care health. Craig and I will also, as time permits, be reviewing all your records and we will contact you if we feel we need to see you for any reason.
On resumption of our normal service we will quickly catch up with all routine appointments.
We will be available through all of this period so if you have any concerns please feel free to contact us :
