Craig wins Myopia Management Award at the UK Optician Awards
Our practice owner and optometrist Craig McArthur won the Myopia Management Award at the 2023 UK Optician Awards. This marks the second Optician Award for Peter Ivins Eye Care having previously been awarded the Technology Practice of the Year, for our industry leading diagnostic technology and software. The glitzy event was hosted at The Hilton Park Lane in London on the 11th of December 2023, presented by comedian Russell Kane. 650 people from the optometry world gathered for the event.
The award was presented in recognition of the work Craig and the practice have conducted on myopia management in children over the years. Craig has been involved in myopia control since 2010, later introducing Scotland’s first dedicated myopia management clinic in 2013. Since then, the practice has been at the forefront of myopia management in the UK.
Craig lectures extensively on the topic of myopia in the UK, Europe and further afield openly sharing his knowledge and expertise with other practitioners in an attempt to make myopia control accessible to all children in the UK and abroad. He has published numerous articles about myopia in industry journals Optician and Optometry Today and is considered a key opinion leader in the field. As a result, the practice is often asked to evaluate new treatment methods by manufacturers offering us earlier access to many products.
