Peter Ivins Eye Care: First in Scotland to Offer SightGlass Vision DOT™ Technology

SightGlass Vision Scotland at Peter Ivins Eye Care

Pioneering a new era of myopia management for children with SightGlass Vision DOT lenses

At Peter Ivins Eye Care, innovation isn’t an occasional achievement—it’s our culture. For more than a decade, our practice has consistently brought the most advanced myopia‑control technologies to Scotland and the wider UK. From launching Scotland’s first dedicated Myopia Management Clinic in 2013 to becoming the first in Scotland, the first to offer MiSight® 1 day contact lenses in 2018, to install the Oculus Myopia Master for axial‑length tracking in 2021, we have continually led the profession in clinical excellence and early adoption.

Now, we are proud to announce another major milestone:

We are the first practice in Scotland—and among the first in the UK—to offer the new SightGlass Vision DOT™ spectacle lens technology.

________

What Is SightGlass Vision DOT™?

SightGlass Vision’s DOT™ lenses represent one of the most exciting innovations in myopia control today. Unlike traditional approaches that rely on peripheral defocus, DOT™ (Diffusion Optics Technology) uses thousands of microscopic light‑scattering elements to manage contrast on the retina—a completely novel method supported by clinical research.

These lenses introduce a new, contrast‑based mechanism designed to slow down childhood myopia progression by subtly modifying the visual signal reaching the retina. Instead of altering focus, DOT™ lenses gently diffuse light to mimic the natural visual environment—supporting healthy visual development.

Early Access: A UK‑Wide Milestone, Led Here in Scotland

SightGlass Vision’s DOT™ lenses became available for early access in the United Kingdom, marking a major expansion of this globally recognised technology.

Thanks to our longstanding reputation as key opinion leaders in myopia management—and our track record of contributing to national and international education—Peter Ivins Eye Care was selected among the very first practices in the UK to introduce this breakthrough lens to patients.

Being chosen for early access follows a pattern:

  • One of the first UK practices to fit MiSight® contact lenses.
  • Early adopters of MyDay® MiSight, Hoya MiYOSMART, Essilor Stellest, NaturalVue, MYLO, Menicon Bloom Day & Night, and SEED 1dayPure EDOF.
  • The first in Scotland to implement axial‑length monitoring using the Oculus Myopia Master—a tool now considered essential for evidence‑based myopia control.

Our involvement in the early launch of SightGlass Vision DOT™ lenses is another confirmation of our role as one of the UK’s most progressive and clinically advanced centres for myopia management.

Why DOT™ Matters for Children With Myopia

Childhood myopia is rising rapidly—and earlier onset is linked with a higher chance of developing high myopia later in life. Early intervention is key, and technologies like DOT™ give us more powerful tools than ever to slow progression.

According to SightGlass Vision’s clinical findings:

  • DOT™ lenses have demonstrated up to 75% reduction in myopia progression after 12 months in diverse populations.
  • 93% of children reported they loved wearing their DOT™ glasses during early‑access evaluations.
  • The approach is grounded in a new understanding of contrast management, offering an alternative to traditional optical‑defocus‑based interventions.

This makes DOT™ an exciting addition to the suite of myopia‑control treatments already available at Peter Ivins Eye Care.

What Early Access Means for Families in Scotland

As one of the first UK practices to provide SightGlass Vision DOT™:

  • Your child can benefit before most of the country gains access

Because DOT™ technology is still in controlled rollout, early access gives your family an opportunity to adopt one of the most advanced myopia‑management options ahead of general availability.

  • You receive expertise from Scotland’s most experienced myopia‑management team

Our clinicians have over a decade of experience managing progressive myopia, having worked with thousands of children and contributed to major UK professional education initiatives.

  • You gain access to a full range of treatment combinations

DOT™ can be used alone or as part of a combined approach alongside options such as:

  • MiSight® 1 day
  • MyDay® MiSight
  • NaturalVue EDOF
  • Menicon Bloom Day & Night
  • Ortho‑K (EyeDream, Bloom Night, Alexa AR, Arise)
  • MiYOSMART, Stellest, ZEISS MyoCare, Rodenstock MyCon lenses

This ensures every child receives a personalised treatment plan tailored to age, lifestyle, prescription, and progression rate.

Continuing Our Mission: Leading Scotland Into the Future of Myopia Care

Becoming Scotland’s first practice to offer DOT™ technology reinforces what parents across the country already know: Peter Ivins Eye Care stands at the forefront of myopia innovation.

With early access to SightGlass Vision DOT™, we continue to deliver the highest standard of preventative children’s eye care—helping protect vision, reduce long‑term risks, and empower young people to see a clearer future.
