Craig McArthur — Optometrist, Myopia Management Specialist and International Lecturer
Craig McArthur is an optometrist and Director of Peter Ivins Eye Care in Bearsden, Glasgow, where he leads the practice’s specialist Myopia Management Clinic — the first dedicated clinic of its kind in Scotland when it launched in 2013.

- Installed Scotland’s first Oculus Myopia Master for axial length measurement in 2021
- Has been fitting orthokeratology (OrthoK) lenses for myopia control since 2010
- Has been fitting off-label spectacle and contact lenses for myopia management since 2010
- Has since added Essilor Stellest, Zeiss MyoCare, SightGlass Vision’s DOT lens and Ryjunea (low-dose atropine) to the clinic’s range of evidence-based treatment options
- Has been part of numerous clinical trials investigating myopia management strategies in children
Lecturing and Education
Craig lectures internationally on childhood myopia and myopia control, and regularly teaches other eye care professionals on myopia control spectacle lenses, orthokeratology, contact lens-based myopia management and evidence-based paediatric eye care.
Publications
Craig has contributed to Optometry Today’s multi-part guide to myopia control, and has published numerous articles in industry journal Optician on the topic of childhood myopia and myopia management strategies.
