SEED 1dayPure EDOF

We have been using the SEED 1dayPure EDOF contact lens for myopia control since its launch in 2020. Japanese contact lens manufacturer SEED partnered with the Brien Holden Vision Institute of Sydney to bring this exciting lens to the market.

The lens offers an extensive range of powers from +5.00 to -12.00. The lens interestingly is supplied with boxes of 32 per month ensuring your child has 2 extra lenses per month in case of loss or damage to a lens. The lens also has three levels of depth of focus using the extended depth of focus (EDOF) technology. This means we can gradually increase the power of the myopia control to allow your child to adapt to the lens. This has proven useful in children that have struggled with other designs of myopia control contact lens.

SEED 1dayPure EDOF - How do they work?

Here is the rather complicated bit I am afraid. More conventional multifocal contact lenses use zonal or aspheric designs which can be susceptible to changes in pupil size with differ lighting levels in the wearer’s environment. By constructively combining a series of specially selected higher-order aberrations on the front of the contact lens the Brien Holden Vision Institute patented design used by the SEED 1dayPure EDOF contact lens delivers good focus across near, intermediate and distance ranges. In essence It optimises retinal image quality regardless of pupil size change and lens decentration and ghosting and haloes are therefore minimised.

SEED 1dayPure EDOF – Other advantages

Keeping impurities away

“SIB” stands for SEED Ionic Bond. Every pair of SEED 1dayPure® moisture contact lenses is made from original “SIB” material which contains both positive and negative ions, resulting in electrical stability. This stability keeps out dust and impurities.

Pure Moisture

“Alginic Acid” has been newly formulated in SEED 1dayPure® moisture, and is a natural moisturising agent which is extracted from seaweeds such as kelp or wakame. It attracts moisture in the wearers eyes and keeps tears on the surface of the lens. This natural polymer is formulated in the packaging solution to ensure optimum comfort throughout the whole day.

Lens marking for easy handling

To help children distinguish whether the lens is inside out or not, markers can be found on every lens to make this process easier.
