What is Myopia Management?

In the summer of 2013 we were the first practice in Scotland and amongst the first in the UK to launch a dedicated Myopia Management Clinic.

Myopia Management (also known as Myopia Control) aims to decrease the risk of development of myopia and reduce the progression (worsening) of myopia in young children. Myopia control is unlikely to halt the progression of myopia. However, slowing the rate of progression is important as lower levels of myopia provide more usable levels of vision when not wearing spectacles. More importantly increased levels of myopia have been linked with increased risk of eye diseases such as retinal detachment, myopic maculopathy and glaucoma.

What are my options?
